The colors are obtained through the use of plants, insects and minerals. Our artisans extract their dyes from local plants such as umatola, siputola, molle and queñoa, as well as cochineal (a parasite that grows on prickly pear palms).

Dyed by chemicals

Anilines are chemical dyes that allow obtains a wide range of colors, generally very bright and intense. Its influence on the Andean textile industry has already several decades, becoming clearer from the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s, mainly in Bolivia and from there to other areas of the Andean highlands. Today it is very important to make conscious the use of certified products that do not harm the environment.
